Using the just-released 3rd Edition of the Biochem for the Boards Workbook, you'll be able to prepare for the NBDE 1 while saving yourself both stress and time.

What this workbook will teach you

All the fun details of protein, lipid, nucleic acid, carbohydrate and fat metabolism.  I wrote this specifically for the NBDE 1 exam, so the workbook focuses on the most important information that gets tested most often.

5 Reasons Why the Third Edition Rocks

  • The 2nd Edition has an average 4.9/5 stars on Amazon and this new edition has even more material.  In fact, it has 30 pages of completely new content - that's a lot!

  • A HUGE chapter on nucleic acids, including metabolism, structure, and all the fun stuff.  You can download a section of it above.

  • I rewrote 90% of the book.  Why?  Because I hate free time?  No, but because it wasn't perfect and I wanted it to flow better, make more sense, and be easier to digest.

  • More information about pathology and pharmacology, because that's important too.

  • Took out some redundancy.  Who would want to read the same thing twice?  Seriously, who would want to read the same thing twice?

More than 1,000 students have already used and loved the 2nd Edition of the Workbook.  The new 3rd Edition is even bigger and better and it's available on Amazon now!

About the author

Bansari Modi

Hi!  I’m Bansari Modi and I’m an orthodontist.  Unlike most other NBDE books, I wanted my book to focus on helping you understand the reasons behind what you learn.  That makes it SO much easier to remember facts.

I’m a big nerd and I love creating study guides (mostly because I absolutely adore my Mac), so I'm always updating my blog with NBDE tips, study guides or other tools.  Join the newsletter (all the way at the top) to get all the tips!

What Amazon users are saying about the 2nd Edition

  • Better than expected because it was so interactive which helped me remember. I would highly recommend this to anyone studying for part 1 NBDE.

  • It's been a while since I took biochem, so I figured I'd buy this book to brush up on some biochem before taking boards. This book does an excellent job of explaining biochem and I definitely had questions on my board exam that I remembered only because I looked at this book

  • The book is short, so it doesn't take a ton of time, and decreases the amount of time you need to spend on other boards study materials reviewing. I wish I could shake the author's hand and say THANK YOU for helping me pass (and finally understand biochem)! Another thing that I liked is that it is well edited - most other review books have so many errors, this one was quite well written.

  • The diagrams and explanation are extremely well organized. The blanks are helpful. I wish it could continue in topics by systems like neurophysiology, hormones, etc, that are important in the exam too.
But is perfect to understand biochemistry, i strongly recommend this book.

  • For the first time I enjoyed reading biochemistry. She is brilliant for making it so simple and easy to memorize. I am very pleased.   So far the best money I spent for studying the dental boards.

Q&A with the Author

Who are you anyways?
Hi!  I’m Bansari Modi and I’m an orthodontist.

Why the heck would an orthodontist write a biochemistry book?
I’m obsessed with biochemistry!  Okay, not really, but I DO love making biochemistry easier for my students.

How did you get into this?
Not too long ago, I was a stressed out dental student agonizing over disorganized, complicated, and confusing NBDE study guides.  After graduating from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, I decided to create a resource that actually simplifies studying instead of making it more stressful.  I also decided to do an orthodontic residency.  That was fun too.
Since I went through the same struggles that every dental student goes through, I know that studying for the NBDE is scary!  But I ended up doing pretty well and I’ve learned a few tricks on how to make studying easier and more efficient.  That and I learned a whole bunch of useful things while getting my masters at the Columbia University Teachers College.

Why should I use your material?
Most of the other biochemistry resources for the NBDE are really annoying and make biochemistry harder instead of easier!!  I wanted my book to focus on helping you understand the reasons behind what you learn.  That makes it SO much easier to remember facts.  Straightforward memorizing using flashcards or lists upon lists is completely inefficient and so tiring that I can’t understand why that’s the most popular way dental students study for the NBDE.
